ANOTHER unique project is set to join the scores that have been gracing the Lagos ocean view in the recent years.
Dubbed “Atlantic Resort Estate”, the project, a mixture of residential and hotel facility is coming from one of the foremost developers, Messrs Grenadines Homes. Located along Water Corporation Road, Victoria Island Extension, the development is to occupy a 35,000 square metre land space of the prime oceanfront.
The development is a mix of luxury residential apartments, retail, office space and a five-Star hotel. “The total duration of the project from inception through design and construction is 36 months, but that the first set of buildings will be completed in 24months time,” according to the Acting Managing Director, Grenadines Homes, Mrs. Noimot Olatunji.
Specifically, the firm’s management last week at media briefing unveiled the project plan and announced appointment of a design consultant, Messrs HOK London, for the master plan and concept design. The consultant will look at the functional design that would produce a synergy among the proposed facilities, namely the residential complex, the hotel and other facilities.
Olatunji disclose that HOK that is celebrating its 60 years anniversary in design and is one of the world’s best architects, which works include the Flame Towers, the tallest skyscraper in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Tower was completely covered with the LED screens that display the movement of a fire visible from the farthest points of the city.
He said: “For us at Grenadines Homes owning a house is a great achievement and a status badge for many people. However, owning a beautifully designed luxury property in a good location is even more satisfying. Like owning treasure; something precious that becomes only more valuable with the passage of time. That is what we are partnering with HOK to bring the best designs and innovation with luxury to Nigeria”.
Besides, to bridge the gap in housing delivery in Nigeria, she said Grenadines Homes assists the government to bridge the housing deficit by delivering houses that can stand the test of time and speak to the luxury life style that our clients are yearning for.
On why the choice of HOK and not indigenous company, She said it wasn’t that the firm is contemptuous of the competence of local designer, but that their goal is to have a world class project.
The Senior Vice President, HOK London, Mr. Barry Spencer Hughes, allayed the fear on what may have transpired in the event that both hotel facility and residential building would be sited within the same vicinity. He said by the time the design is out, it would come out to be the best synergy of a unique proportion.
Echoing similar view, the Managing Director (GMD), Grenadines Homes, Mr. Adeyinka Adesope, stated that the firm wants to seize the opportunity of the Atlantic Resort project to add value to a living.
Unlike many players in the industry who see the presence of foreign investors as a threat to the indigenous investors, Adesope saw the presence of foreign investors as a welcome development.
“For me, their presence would make the indigenous players become creative and get the best out of the situation. Indeed, issues such as lack of funding, difficulty in perfecting land titles occasioned by bureaucracy embedded in land administration, infrastructure deficits and the rest are not insurmountable challenges. All what we need is creativity and ideas to solve all of them”.
