Over 60,000 of construction workers in the country have lost their jobs since the incumbent administration came on board in May 29, National Union of Civil Engineering Construction, Furniture and Wood Workers (NUCECFWW) has said.

President of the union, Comrade Amechi Asugwuni, who disclosed this at a press conference yesterday, attributed the situation to economic downturn which caused suspension of construction projects in the country. He said the development is a dangerous signal to the country's quest to create jobs, grow the economy and add value to the lives of people in the country.

He deplored the infrastructural deficit in the country, saying President Muhammadu Buhari needs to confront the problem of infrastructural development and other social vices with vigour and urgency to reduce poverty, joblessness and insecurity in the country.
